Piano! Piano is my ‘life’s work.’ As a piano teacher for well over forty years, I have had the opportunity to work with students of every age and every stage of development, some of whom have become church pianists; others have become piano teachers themselves, ever-broadening the art and craft. Countless others have developed piano skills that enable them to play for their own enjoyment. All have advanced their understanding of, and appreciation for the beautiful – and universal – language that is music. Beginning Students Beginners of all ages face many delights and challenges as they start piano instruction. As a teacher with a wealth of experience working with beginners, I am committed to helping the
new student establish a solid foundation of technique and theory. My ability to evaluate each student’s needs and strengths allows me to mold each lesson to the student, facilitating progress and offering encouragement to new musicians.
Intermediate Students Frequently, there are those who have had piano instruction and have progressed beyond the ‘beginner’ stage, but for one reason or another have ‘hit a wall’ in developing their skills, or have ‘dropped out’ altogether. Eventually, many of these ‘intermediate’ students find a renewed interest in continuing their piano training. I am always eager to work with these intermediate students, guiding them to meaningful progress and helping them to accomplish their individual goals.
Advanced Students As both a teacher and solo performer, I welcome to my studio even the most advanced students; those who have progressed to the point where they can benefit from personalized instruction in touch, phrasing, intonation, dynamics, and improvisation. I appreciate and welcome the accomplished student who is ready for real challenge.
